Follow a YouTube channel by RSS
A YouTube channel publishes a feed, exactly like a news site. Following it by RSS gives you what subscribing does not: a chronological, complete list, with no recommendation algorithm standing between you and the new videos.
Why go through an RSS reader
YouTube's subscriptions tab is sorted, padded and interrupted by recommendations. In RSS, a new video is one more row in your list, at the moment it goes out, and nothing else gets in.
Your channels then sit with the rest of your reading: in the same folders as your sites, with the same read/unread state, and with no Google account connected for it.
What shows up in the list
Each new video appears as an article: title, date, thumbnail. Opening it takes you to the video. Your usual filters apply — including spoiler blocking, which earns its keep on sports and TV-review channels, where a video title often gives away as much as a news headline.
Followed channels count towards your site quota like any other source.
Adding a channel
- In Feedrion, open the add-source screen and pick the YouTube tab.
- Paste the channel's address, or its handle.
- Choose the folder to file it under.
- Its next videos will arrive in your list like any other feed.
Nothing to install on YouTube's side, and nothing to connect: a channel's feed is public.
