Summarise articles with AI

Two lengths, two uses

The short summary is a few lines and exists to help you decide: open, or move on. It is free for everyone. The detailed summary goes further and often stands in for reading an article you only wanted the substance of; it is included with Premium.

Summaries are generated ahead of time for the feeds you follow, so they do not fire on every article you open.

With your own key, nothing goes through our servers

You can plug in your own API key — Claude, OpenAI, Groq, OpenRouter, Mistral or Cerebras — and Feedrion then summarises straight from your device to the provider you picked.

In that mode neither the key, nor the text sent, nor the summary produced goes through Feedrion's servers, and those summaries are not synchronised between devices: they stay where they were made. The key is stored encrypted on the device.

The model, the summary language and the prompt text are all editable. There is also a “local AI only” setting that hides server-made summaries everywhere, if you would rather depend on nothing but your own key.

Translating, too

The same key can translate an article's headline and summary into the language you choose, one article at a time or automatically for the feeds you tick. Useful for following a foreign source without leaving your usual list.

Using your own key

1. Open Settings, then the AI section.
2. Add a key: pick the provider, paste the key, keep the default model or name your own.
3. Choose the summary language, and the translation language if you use it.
4. Summaries show up on articles; you can ask for them on the spot or have them generated when a feed opens.

A summary is there to help you decide what to read, not to replace reading — the original article stays one tap away.
